LSFF 2018: Daughters of the Dust
14/01/2018
About this Event
When director Julie Dash conceived of the groundbreaking Daughters of the Dust - a multi-generational tale of the Black women of Gullah struggling to hold on to their culture - little did she know that 25 years later, her work would resurge to take its place on the world stage. Visually spellbinding in its cinematography and never more timely in its subject matter, in recent years, Dash’s film has provided an obvious touchstone to inspire Beyoncé’s vision of Black womanhood, Lemonade.
